Update Your Website: Why It’s Essential!

There’s no more cost-effective way to promote your business than on the internet. A website makes your business, company or organization accessible to anyone with a PC, laptop, tablet or smart phone.

Update Your Website: Why It’s Essential!

1. How does your website look?
People see your website as a direct reflection of your organization. If your site is professional and packed with useful information, you will be seen as an authority and an expert. If your site is ugly, out-of-date or poorly organized, they’ll assume the same about your company. So keep your site looking fresh with up to date photos, projects, and text.

2. Is your website mobile friendly and mobile responsive?
Responsive web design uses a group of techniques that allow a website to flex and adapt to many screen sizes. Your site must look great on small smartphones, all laptops, huge desktops and everything in between.

3. SEO and Website Updates
It’s a fact: if you don’t update your website regularly, you will lose search engine rankings. Google and other search engines rank websites with the most recent content as the most relevant to website users. Your content might be great, but if you have the same, unchanged information from last year, the search engines crawlers may skip it as irrelevant. Keep your content changing, monthly or weekly if you can. Posts of 600-900 words or so are best to get high rankings. Title the articles with the important keywords first. Avoid “stopwords”  like “and” “a” “the”.  Here’s a great article on stopwords. These words actually stop the search engines from indexing the articles’ title.  Your articles should be on specific topics that people use to find businesses like yours. More on that in a later post!
