HTTPS: Convert Your Website NOW!

Very soon, all web pages using HTTP will display a prominent warning that flags them as non-secure. Visitors to your website will see a message in the browser bar that says “Not Secure.”
People will likely click away from your website.
Eventually, every webpage that is not using SSL (HTTPS)
will display a security warning like the one you see here.

To prevent these security warnings to your website visitors, we have no choice but to require that ALL customers convert their websites to use SSL (HTTPS).  So, if your website is not currently using HTTPS, we will need to migrate your website from HTTP to HTTPS.

For Devine Design clients, the certificate is free, and there is a one-time $175 fee to convert every page of your website to use SSL (HTTPS). Other host companies charge more… often much more.

Benefits of HTTPS
Here are the most important benefits of having your website use HTTPS:

• HTTPS helps with SEO search and rankings
• HTTPS helps keep your customer data & logins secure
• HTTPS prevents browser security warnings

We will be sending clients an invoice for $175 prior to migrating your website to SSL (HTTPS).
Please expedite your payment ASAP, via check or our online payment form, to ensure that your website is secured using SSL (https). If you have any questions, please let us know.

Please see below for further information on SSL (https), and Google’s recommendations.

Important Notes about SSL (https):

• Using HTTPS ensures that private (user) information is being sent across the web in a more secure manner. Especially if you’re dealing with monetary transactions, HTTPS is a must.

• You should always protect all of your websites with HTTPS, even if they don’t handle sensitive communications. Aside from providing critical security and data integrity for both your websites and your users’ personal information, HTTPS is a requirement for many new browser features.

• HTTPS protects the integrity of your website

• HTTPS helps prevent intruders from tampering with the communications between your websites and your users’ browsers. Intruders include intentionally malicious attackers, and legitimate but intrusive companies, such as ISPs or hotels that inject ads into pages.

• Intruders exploit unprotected communications to trick your users into giving up sensitive information or installing malware, or to insert their own advertisements into your resources. For example, some third parties inject advertisements into websites that potentially break user experiences and create security vulnerabilities.

• Intruders exploit every unprotected resource that travels between your websites and your users. Images, cookies, scripts, HTML … they’re all exploitable. Intrusions can occur at any point in the network, including a user’s machine, a Wi-Fi hotspot, or a compromised ISP, just to name a few.

• HTTPS protects the privacy and security of your users

• HTTPS prevents intruders from being able to passively listen to communications between your websites and your users.

• One common misconception about HTTPS is that the only websites that need HTTPS are those that handle sensitive communications. Every unprotected HTTP request can potentially reveal information about the behaviors and identities of your users.
